Locations

During the 6 week shoot, the crew traveled to many locations in both north and south India, including:

North India

  • Rishikesh - located on the holy Ganges river at the foothills of the Himalayan mountains, it is also called the "Yoga Capital of the World"
  • Jaipur - capital of Rajasthan ("Land of the Kings"), Jaipur is a jewel of Indian culture, with palaces, forts, monuments, colorful bazaars, dancers and snake charmers.
  • Taj Mahal - one of the most famous monuments in all of India. Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a monument to his dead wife.
  • Varanasi (Benares) - Varanasi is one of the oldest living cities in the world and millions of pilgrims congregate here to worship on its river banks.
  • Sarnath - Just outside of Varanasi, this city is the birth place of Buddhism. The Buddha gave his first discourse here after becoming enlightened.

South India

  • Belur Temple - an ancient temple with magnificent sculptures of gods, goddesses, and deities. It's almost 1000 years old!
  • Isha Yoga Ashram - surrounded by mountains, this ashram is an ideal place to practice yoga and meditation in a peaceful and serene setting.
  • Kerala - a lush, green state in South India famous for its natural beauty, Ayurvedic spas, backwaters and beaches.
  • Kanyakumari - three oceans come together here, India's southern most tip.

The film's shooting schedule was intense, and everyone was exhausted by the end of it. We frequently got up at 4 o'clock in the morning to shoot in the morning light and had hundreds of pounds of equipment and luggage to carry around with us. But in the end it was worth it- and one of our rewards is a lifetime of great memories!
